What WatEats collects
We collect your verified University of Waterloo email address, display name, account and sign-in information, listings, matches, ratings, reports, and the messages you send through WatEats. We also process basic technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as authentication cookies, request details, and abuse-prevention data.
How we use information
We use this information to verify eligibility, operate listings and matches, enable communication, protect users, investigate reports, prevent abuse, maintain the service, and comply with legal obligations. Your email address is not displayed to other users.
Messages, reports, and retention
Messages are stored for up to 180 days. If a participant reports an exchange, the conversation available at the time of the report may be copied for administrator review and retained for up to one year. Other account and transaction records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including safety, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
When information is shared
Information is shared with other users only as needed to use WatEats—for example, your display name, listing details, reputation, and messages to a matched user. We may use service providers to host, secure, and operate WatEats. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the service or its users. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices and data deletion
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data by emailing ahamed@ahamedwajibu.com from the Waterloo email associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity. Some information may be retained where necessary for safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.
Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as WatEats changes. Material updates will be posted here with a revised effective date.
